Derek Bartlett is a graduate of the University of New
Brunswick, Fredericton, New Brunswick with a Bachelors degree in geology
(1962). He also completed several postgraduate courses in economic geology
and sedimentology.
Mr. Bartlett has 40 years experience in geological exploration,
having spent 30 years as Vice-President of the New Jersey Zinc company
and Vice-President and Manager of Canada for Goldfields Mining, a wholly
owned subsidiary of the Consolidated Goldfields of London, England.
During the last 10 years, Mr. Bartlett has acted in a
consulting capacity and has served as President of two junior public mining
companies (Braddick Resources Ltd. and Blue Emerald Resources Inc. now
called Kingsman Resources and Saville Resources).
He sits on the board of three other mining companies
(Waseco Resources, Diadem Resources and Oromin Resources) and has raised
in excess of 5 million dollars in non-brokered financing for Braddick
and Blue Emerald. He has also actively participated in the raising of
10 million dollars for other companies where he served as the key technical
director. Mr. Bartlett serves as both technical consultant and director
to some of these companies and is currently negotiating terms with a network
of significant investors who wish to invest in specific qualified junior
mining companies with promising gold and/or silver assets. This arrangement
will include assisting specific companies in acquiring precious metal
properties of merit under favourable terms.
MAJOR TECHNICAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS INCLUDE:
- Negotiated and acquired properties in the Snow
Lake area Manitoba that led to the grass roots discovery of the Number
Three Zone. This deposit (a resource of about 200,000 oz of gold) and
the main adjacent ore body is in production and operated by High River
and T.V.X. at an annual rate of about 100,000 oz. of gold per year. Goldfields
sold the property prior to the start of production.
- Negotiated an option on the Haile deposit and all adjacent grounds
in South Carolina, U.S.A. A resource of in excess of 1 million oz. of
gold was outlined. Goldfields later dropped all holdings in the Eastern
U.S.A. due to environmental concerns.
- Negotiated and acquired the Springpole Lake Property Ontario,
where many years of drilling have outlined a resource in excess of 4 million
oz. of gold. Feasibility studies are currently being reviewed.
- As the first employee of Goldfields Canadian in 1979 he staked
the Pistol Lake Property, N.W.T. in 1980 that was sold for 2 million dollars
during the mid eighties. Over 200,000 oz of gold were outlined during
the second phase of drilling. Although the deposit was open in all directions,
the area was designed parkland and all exploration ceased.
- Assisted in the acquisition and drilling of a phosphate deposit
in Florida which was subsequently sold by New Jersey Zinc to Noranda for
9 million dollars.
- Prospected and assisted with R.O. Bartlett Enterprises in the
staking of the Solbec and Cupra massive sulphide deposits in Eastern Quebec.
In excess of 2 million tons of high-grade gold, silver, copper and zinc
were mined out in the sixties and seventies.
- Recommended and assisted in the negotiations of Diadem’s
Mestiza gold deposit (indicated resources of 1.5 million tonnes grading
9.3 gpt gold) in Nicaragua. Small-scale mining was carried out in the
late nineties before a lawsuit halted production.
- Negotiated Diadems acquisition of Leek Springs, California diamond
property which enabled Diadem to raise 6 million dollars and resulted
in Diadem’s stock rising to $9.00 per share.
